Well, another one bites the dust. Polaroid Corporation, manufacturer of the Polaroid Digital Palette CI3000, CI5000, and HR6000, and the Polaroid ProPalette 7000 and 8000, filed for bankruptcy on October 12, 2001, and indicated in their press releases that they intend to dump the film recorder business. Meanwhile Mirus Industries, manufacturer of the Mirus Turbo and Turbo II, Mirus Galleria, and Mirus GalleriaPro, GalleriaPro 8, and GalleriaPro E film recorders, is officially out of business. Montage Graphics (formerly Presentation Technologies), manufacturer of the Montage FR1 and Montage FR2 film recorders, has been sold for the fourth time. And Agfa (formerly Matrix Instruments), manufacturer of the Agfa PCR and PCR II, Agfa QCR, QCRD, and QCRZ, Agfa Procolor and Procolor Premier, Agfa FotoColor, Agfa FotoPro, Agfa ProSlide 35, Agfa Alto, and Agfa Forte film recorders, has quit the film recorder business entirely. However, the Computer Graphics Group provides continuing support for most of these products, in the form of repairs or repair referrals, and updated or replacement software drivers. Lasergraphics, manufacturer of the Lasergraphics LFR and LFR Plus, Personal LFR, Personal LFR Plus, and Personal LFR Pro, LFR-X, LFR Mark II, LFR Mark II DPM, LFR Mark III, LFR Mark III DPM, LFR Mark V DPM, and LFR Mark VI DPM, continues to dominate the film recorder business. Their film recorders are fast and sharp, and their prices are very reasonable.
